Life drawing :)

I had never even attempted such things before i came to newcastle, and my first few attempts were pretty poor, but now i'm really into it! and feel i've actually done some good pieces!

3D design

I love the colours and contrasts in the photos of my shoe, i feel there is some really interesting shapes created.

My favorite pictures are on the black background as i feel it gives the pictures a sense of class and depth.

i also photographed the shoe on the foot, to show off its features on the body.

I photographed my shoe on both black and white to see which was more successful , i really like the way these pictures turned out.

I did some drawings pages in the style of some of the research i found, doing this helped me to think about the design of a shoe in a different way.

The shoe making process, i captured images as i took apart the old shoe and created my own.

The second part of my shoe making process
Creating a pece of 3D was a project i was really excited about, i knew i wanted to create a shoe, as its something i've always been interested in, and i loved it, i created a lot of samples before coming to a final idea, i enjoyed experimenting with wax and the glue gun etc, it introduced me to new processes.

Textiles

REsearch from the sketchbook, i loved this leather collar...its all about the leather this season and i wanted to keep my collars up with the fashions whilst also being inspired by victorian collars.

This is a page i created with biro line drawings on, i love the negative spaces that are created rather than the actual lines made.

Looking at victorian collars was vital as they are so iconic and all coming back into fashion, i love how exaggerated the collars are. Knowledge if this era is vital with wanting to proceed to costume design.

I love to google basic words related to what im doing to find other students work, i feel like its some of the best inspiration you can find.

these are 3 of my samples, i stayed with a colour scheme that represents me, and used photos such as the church from my village to build up these collars and then stitched into them.

I then photographed the collars on a model and edited my work in photoshop,  and presented them on card, i loved the outcomes.

This is one of my favorite, i really like photos when they are put into black and white :)

Here i changed the opacity of the images in ascending order, i feel this worked really well and i think i cropped a perfect section of the photograph, i also adjusted the brightness which i think brings out the colours amazingly.

This was my final collar, i really liked the way it came out, i used lace, stitch and paper and i feel it came out better than i imagined.
This project was about experimenting with stitch, into different materials, i chose to be inspired by a childhood toy that had a colar on and so i created a set of sample collars. i worked with stitch, paper and materials  then photocopying with different colours and contrasts to experiment with the way things looked.

Illustration/Graphics

Illustration project- create a book cover, my initial research was already existing book covers, for inspiration.

The work of Niky Roehreke, is illustration thats based on fashion, an area of interest and inspiration to my final piece.

This is research i did on Stephen Rothwell, a photomontage artist, a technique i was keen to use throughout this brief, however i wanted to work more in the colours of pink so they represented me as a person, a vital part to the project, being it an autobiography book of myself,

My final style sheets that we had to creat on A1 sheets of paper, here i experimented with the use of different backgrounds and prestenting my work in a more quirky way, a way i prefer to work,

and the sam again, showing the thought process that went into my book cover.

Front cover final, i created this in photoshop, i am really happy with the way the title of the book came out, and how it follows the shapes on the page, and also the low opacity scanned in image of my scarf for the background, however i am not particularly happy with the entire look of the book.

I liked the spink of the book and my use of typography for the font, i like the randomness of it and how it looks hand done, i also love the worked into/washed out pink colour.

I also like the back cover, again with the use on the scan in of my scarf and low opacity sections to allow the text to stay visible yet black, overall i did like my book cover but i think with a longer time i could defiantly have expanded my ideas more.
My next specialism was Illustration/Graphics where the brief was to create a book cover inspired by ourselves and our collection of work from the summer project. i again chose to work with the idea of fashion and a selection of my clothes.
I did a photo shoot with a model, and with these photos i was inspired by photographers as to what i should do with my edits, here i put her into another pictured that i took for my summer project.

This is one of my favorite images as i feel it really captures my dress and the shapes i created from the origami swans. i simply put this into black and white as i felt it suited the style of the dress and photo more.

A few of my photos along with the makeup were inspired by the swan lake ballet and the recent film of black swan, this was because i felt the elegance of the swans should be brought through in the photographs, again i used black and white with subtle and dark tones.

This one i left in coloyr accept made it really dark and moody to allow the focus to stay with dress. i have also left the focus with the corsage as i felt this added to the exaggerated catwalk idea of the dress.

This is my favorite final image, i changed the opacity of each paste of the model to generate this ghostly spooky look, i feel this worked exceptionally well.

Fashion designs

These are designs that i have on my finals sheets for my fashion project.

Fashionn!

This is my starting point for my fashion work, SWANS! i started looking at the shapes and colours of them, and based my idea on their figure and elegance.

Fashion photography research from "pop magazine" photographing my garment was just as vital as the design and making, to show it off to the highest standard.

These are a few of my starting point designs before i started to put together the structure of the dress.
here are some pieces from my first specialism at college, the brief was to create a piece of fashion from paper, we had to look into the processess we could undergo with paper, to create out final. these are some pieces of initial research taken from my sketchbook.
These are my original pages in my sketch book, i chose to focus my project on fashion and vintage styles, as i am thinking of specializing in the fashion area.

Starting with some glove designs, experimenting with different techniques, using pencil and pen to create different marks on the paper, i liked the way these turned out, using different pressures with the pen created some interesting lines and shapes.

This was an idea i had used previously on my graphic design course at South Cheshire college, this idea was inspired by some of the items i collected from my family over the summer and this eventually lead to my fashion project. Again i was relating it to fashion by choosing clothes from magazines that caught my eye and adding on hand drawn animal heads.

As part of my research i looked into techniques and processes to create certain outcomes, banksy is one on my favorite artists, i love his work and the process of stencil he uses to create it.

Here i found some research on Elsa Mora, i loved the way she worked with the paper, her work is so intricate, this related to the fashion project i then had to complete and helped me push those ideas forward.
Newcastle-Under-Lyme College: Summer project!
- this was a project based on ourselves and our personalities as well as our familes heritage, we were asked to put together a sketchbook and some initial ideas of final ideas, to help influence our rolling programme work for when we started, here are some of the sketchbook pages i created :) x

blog a go go!

so im well and truly into the rolling programme at newcastle college, so let the work start rolling!
